Who is Crateit?

Crateit was founded in 2021 by Tonny Kaagaard Olsen and Martin Wibe Kristensen in Odense, Denmark. The two met while studying innovation and entrepreneurship - brought together by a shared vision to create something with real impact for families and children.

Tonny, a dad of three, was inspired by everyday play with his own children - noticing how they would instinctively create imaginative scenes out of simple objects. That spark of creativity planted the seed for what would become Crateit: a brand that puts storytelling and imagination at the heart of playtime.

But Crateit is about more than just fun. It’s deeply rooted in empathy and social responsibility. Tonny’s mother worked with people with developmental differences, and Martin has a sister-in-law with a chromosomal disorder – personal experiences that shaped their approach to business.

This is reflected in Crateit’s ethos of partnering with specialist production units in Denmark that provide meaningful employment opportunities to people from a range of backgrounds, including those with disabilities. At Crateit, everyone is valued and has a place.

Designed in Norway and proudly Scandinavian in spirit, Crateit stands for screen-free, meaningful play that connects families, sparks curiosity, and makes space for children to express themselves.

What’s in a Crate?

Each Crateit box is themed around a different adventure – think cities, fairytales, dinosaurs, and more. But these aren’t your average activity kits. Designed to spark the imagination, every crate is filled with beautifully crafted wooden figures and props, ready to inspire countless adventures.
